Susan has seven years of working and training as a person centred counsellor. Prior to that Susan was an English teacher in Further Education.
Susan has a special interest in working with older clients and is interested in the connection between talking, writing and mental health.
She works for the Leicester Counselling Centre and The Bower House, Market Harborough offering individual counselling. She also has a small private practice . In conjunction with Age UK (2010 to present) she has developed a form of group therapy. This reminiscence work uses poetry and related props to trigger participants ' memories and unlock their stories.
She currently faciliates bereavement courses at the Bower House.
Susan is committed to the experience of ageing and the potential that therapy can bring to those who find this a time of challenge and adjustment. She has developed a programme of facilitated group work that can work in the care home sector, private sector and churches.
